A Hot Stone Massage Therapy Treatment consists of a combination of heated stones and a full body general swedish (relaxation) massage. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that has the ability to retain heat. A Hot Stone Massage Therapy Treatment provides a very soothing and effective experience, the stones are known to expand blood vessels, which in turn encourages blood flow throughout the body. The stones also have a sedative effect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation. During a Hot Stone Massage some of the smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of the body while others are held in the hands of the Massage Therapist as they provide a relaxing, hands on treatment.

The stones may be placed and can treat the following areas::

  • Along the spine
  • Low back
  • Neck
  • Anterior chest wall (w/specified consent)
  • Glutes (w/specified consent)
  • Stomach
  • Face
  • Arms and palms
  • Legs and feet
